Our Mission: The King William County Public School Nutrition Program believes it takes a team to educate a child. Education does not end in the classroom, but extends to all areas in a child's life. School Nutrition is a vital part of a child's education. We are committed to serving safe, nutritious, and quality meals while encouraging students to develop life-long skills and knowledge to make healthy food choices.
Our Vision: The King William County School Nutrition Program will provide students and staff nutritionally sound meals that support the goal of the effective delivery of academic and/or extra-curricular education.
All schools participate in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP). Our lunches are required to meet specific nutritional guidelines according to different grade level groups (K-5, 6-8, and 9-12). Local School Wellness Policy
King William County Public Schools has created a wellness policy to address the nutrition and fitness needs of our students.
Local School Wellness Meetings:
King William County Public Schools invites staff, parents, and community members to a meeting about the school wellness policy. The meeting will be held on Monday, December 2, 2019 at 3:30 p.m. in the School Board Office Conference Room. Providing healthy options at school helps keep our children healthy and ready to learn. The school wellness committee helps our District create an action plan for nutrition and physical activity at school. Parents can share their opinions and help make sure the policy is meeting the needs of our students. The King William County Public Schools wellness policy can be found on the District website, www.kwcps.k12.va.us by clicking on "School Nutrition" under "Quick Links".
Parents who are unable to attend the meeting can email comments about the wellness policy or nutrition and physical activity at their school to: firstname.lastname@example.org
