Principal's Message

Corey McConville
High School Principal

On behalf of the administration, faculty, and staff, I welcome you to the 2018-2019 school year!  We will continue our quest to go from “Great to Greater” in 2018-2019!  Great to Greater does not happen in just two years, but we have accomplished a lot over that time period.   We will continue to move forward and find ways to improve, as we “C’s the day”  in 2018-2019.  For the 2018-2019 school year we will focus on the new “Profile of a Graduate” and implementing the 5 C’s: critical thinking; creative thinking; collaboration; communication; and citizenship, in everything we do here at KWHS!

I can honestly say my excitement for the “New Year” is higher than any year in my previous 17 as an educator.  As we move away from the sharp focus on SOL testing, our direction shifts towards the implementation of the “Profile of a Graduate”.  We also have a second assistant principal to start the school year, and I know we have the best staff around! I cannot help but be excited about the great things we will accomplish.  “Great to Greater” is about to happen!

Each of you can succeed, but at times we all need support.  At KWHS, teachers, staff, parents, and your peers will work together to provide all of you the opportunity to reach your full potential. The year ahead holds great promise for your academic and social development, and it is vital that we combine our efforts to help you succeed.  It is important that you get involved in one or more of our many successful extracurricular and co-curricular activities. Choose to be a positive, respectful, and productive part of KWHS.

Our annual Open House will be held on WednesdayAugust 29, 2018 at King William High School from 2:00-7:00 PM.  After you pick up your schedule, feel free to visit classrooms and teachers.  From 2-4PM at Open House, we will have tours for rising 9th grade students.  If the scheduled times are inconvenient, please feel free to come any time between 2-7PM. During this time, find a staff member or student helper if you need assistance. Our student helpers will have a shirt on that says, “I Am the One” this means they are the one to help you!

Students who do not attend the Open House may pick up their schedule on August 30th or 31st.  Schedules will be available on the first day of school if you are unable to pick up your schedule by Friday, August 31st.  I look forward to seeing you at either the Open House or the 1st day of school on September 4th!
